The leadership course stimulates the minds of young people

The Youth Movement Leadership Course 2022: Youth Management Project concluded with a certificate award ceremony at the Pekan Bangar Youth Center in Temburong District on Thursday.

Director of Youth and Sports Department (JBS), Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim, presented the certificates.

The Wednesday and Thursday course at the Temburong District Youth Center was in conjunction with the Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) as a strategic partner.

The Youth Movement Leadership Course is an annual JBS program launched in 2019. The course has been run four times with Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam (OBBD).

The program serves to enhance participants’ leadership skills through experiential learning at OBDD.

As this year had the initiative to activate youth associations and movements, the course included for the first time a basic introduction to youth management projects.

The introduction took place in two sessions – one for young people from the districts of Brunei-Muara and Temburong, and another for young people from the districts of Tutong and Belait which will take place on 23 and 24 November at the youth center of the Tutong District. Course objectives include providing basic project management knowledge, particularly in the preparation of working documents, budgets, time guidelines and reports, to enable young people to be organized implementers and improve their ability to work in groups.

A total of 26 young people comprising 13 men and 13 women aged between 18 and 35 participated in the first session of the course where priority was given to young people active in youth movements, including youth associations, youth clubs youth groups, mosque youth groups, village advisory councils (MPKs), student representative councils (MPPs) and social entrepreneurs.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Awangku Muhd ​​Haziq bin Pengiran Haji Muhd ​​Japar, Youth Member of Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council (BDAIDS Council), followed by presentation of background papers.

Umi Kalthum presented the certificates and the event ended with a group photo and the recitation of Doa Selamat.

Under the guidance, encouragement and training provided by the course, JBS hopes to help and stimulate the minds of young people in implementing activities in an organized and systematic manner in addition to moving in tandem with the Ministry of Culture , Youth and Sports as a strategic partner in empowering and empowering youth, especially to achieve the goal of the National Youth Policy and Strategy 2020-2035.
