Emerging Leaders Invited to Apply for Fall 2022 Course

The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) invites Houston residents determined to make a positive impact in their communities to apply for the Complete Communities University (CCU) Fall 2022 Leadership Training. The 8-week course will run from September 21 to November 9. Classes will be held online via Microsoft Teams and in person on Wednesday evenings, 6-8:30 p.m. The application deadline is August 31, 2022.

The CCU program educates emerging leaders on how to effectively engage residents in civic activities to revitalize and empower neighborhoods. Course topics include leadership development through civic engagement, volunteerism, voter education, how city and county governments work and impact neighborhoods, and how to navigate services effectively. of the city and local resources. Course participants are challenged to design civic engagement strategies based on the uniqueness, interests, and needs of their neighborhoods.

CCU courses are taught by DON staff with extensive civic engagement experience and knowledge of Houston communities. Courses include presentations by subject matter experts from municipal departments and community organizations.
