NoCo Leadership Training Program Opens Applications for Class of 2022 – Loveland Reporter-Herald

Leveraging Local Leaders, a program in partnership with BizWest, has opened applications for the Class of 2022.

L3 was founded to recruit and train a group of leaders in northern Colorado to run for local office or engage in local politics to address community issues. Qualified candidates should have an interest in working to find solutions and elevate the political conversation through genuine civil discourse.

“I would recommend anyone with the ability to take the L3 course to do so, whether you want to run for office or not,” Solitaire Svoboda, a graduate of the program in 2021, said in a written statement. “As a potential candidate, information on issues and policies, as well as specific topics related to running a campaign, is invaluable. While the topics covered in class are excellent, it is the interaction with classmates of varying political affiliations or leanings, beliefs, and interests that I have found most beneficial. The diversity of our class led to questions, discussions, and an understanding of the big picture of our community as a whole, not just the limited view of one person or one demographic. I gained a lot of knowledge in this course, but I also gained friendships, wisdom, and an increased passion for my community and a desire to see it prosper.

L3 is a six-month program that meets one day per month. The class curriculum includes information to help candidates know how to campaign effectively. It also includes information on politics and governance so that participants are ready to govern on Day 1 if elected.

“We partnered with this endeavor because local governments are critical to our local economies and create space where pragmatic leaders who want to find solutions to some of our biggest challenges have a voice and the support to run for office. local. With the political divide ever-widening, approaching local government from a non-partisan perspective is important to the future of our region,” said Jeff Nuttall, publisher of BizWest.

Since its inception in 2021, L3 has added partners including the Fort Collins and Loveland Chambers of Commerce.

“The Fort Collins Area Chamber knows the value of having strong, hands-on leaders in local offices in northern Colorado communities. To have a non-partisan program in place now that works to recruit and train these leaders to be ready to run in local elections is fantastic. We need leaders who truly understand the issues facing Northern Colorado before they start. L3 prepares the next generation of leaders to ensure the prosperity of northern Colorado,” said Ann Hutchison, president of the Fort Collins area chamber of commerce, in a written statement.
