New leadership course based on nature and ancient wisdom launched – FE News



Major changes with global impact such as shifts in political power, climate change, Covid-19 and technological developments present people, businesses and institutions with major challenges, opportunities and dilemmas.

With the “Breath in Leadership Journey”, Nyenrode Business University has collaborated with Conscious Learning Tribe, a learning and community platform, to present an innovative holistic leadership course to address the main societal and business issues of today. The journey connects leadership skills, personal development and nature-based (dis) learning opportunities for human leadership and for generations to come.

The Breath in Leadership Journey is designed as a six month course based on nature and ancient wisdoms. Participants are guided along the intersection of science, art, academics and technology, as well as the emerging wisdom of humans who come together around the mission to have a direct impact in and on through their organizations. The Breath in Leadership Journey is an invitation for responsible leaders to co-lead regenerative futures. Program participants are leaders who work in business, for government, in the non-profit sector, or as social entrepreneurs. The course takes place at Nyenrode Business University in Breukelen, two other locations in the Netherlands, Ibiza (Spain) and partially online. The course is open to a global audience with an alternative to the digital course, for those who have chosen to join the first cohort online.

Breath in Leadership is a (dis) learning journey consisting in breaking down obsolete individual and collective assumptions, exploring and co-creating. The program is packed with the most inspiring participants, guides and custodians, such as Alexandra Cousteau (Ocean 2050), Chef Biraci Nixiwaka (Yawanawa) and Ron Garan (Space).

Yuri van Geest from Conscious Learning Tribe says:

“The main ecological, social, psychological and spiritual challenges of the world are all related to a (lack of) breathing in oneself, among others and on our planet. Emerging leadership must be committed to regenerating life for all. The journey is designed to create radical awareness and synergy with pioneers and leaders of the heart whose mission is to support breath and life on Earth. The journey is intended to allow the emergence of courageous opportunities and actions, integrating “inner and outer ecologies”, “feminine and masculine energies”, “thought and feeling”, “ancient and future wisdoms” and “humans as nature and the cosmos” through breath. ”

“New generations already recognize the urgent need for a radically different approach to leadership. Due to Covid-19, people have experienced distress and loneliness and are looking for connection, real contact, and authentic experiences. Other global developments show us that if we do not treat our social and physical environment in a respectful manner, we will encounter complex problems on our way. There is a need for new education and personal development programs like the Breath in Leadership Journey. The new leaders will demonstrate different approaches to better serve society. “

Inspirational guides from home and abroad provide participants with the latest information in areas such as ancient wisdom, regenerative leadership, personal growth, future skills, and creative ability using models of art, advanced technology, organization and work. Participants will work on their individual development and deepening through introspection, coaching and co-creation. They are guided towards a holistic, healthy and grounded style of leadership. Part of the curriculum is the development of meta-skills such as alignment, purpose, courage, compassion, resilience, play, imagination, and intuitive decision-making.

The first Breath in Leadership course begins on November 25, 2021 and runs until May 29, 2022. It consists of eighteen modules with bi-weekly commitments to reflect on progress and integration in real life, as well as on current community commitments. The group of participants is intentionally selected, balanced in terms of gender, age, ethnicity and various sectors.
