Each year, WIFLE Leadership Training brings together women from all federal law enforcement agencies for briefings, recruiting initiatives and an impressive awards ceremony. This year, FEDtalk is recording live from the event in Tampa, Florida to give listeners and indoors an overview of the event’s themes, presenters and session, guest speakers and award winners.
Host Natalia Castro sits down with WIFLE President Cathy Sanz and Vice President Jessie Lane to discuss this year’s training. Conference presenter Dr. Jean Kanokogi also joins to discuss her sessions on promoting racial equity and awareness in law enforcement and stress management. Kanokogi gives an overview of his new book Get Up & Fight and explains what it means for women and women in federal law enforcement.
Finally, two WIFLE award winners sit down with FEDtalk to discuss their award-winning work. Homeland Security Investigations Immigration and Customs Enforcement Program Manager Suzanne Priest received the WIFLE Leadership Award for her work on a non-Jewish female transfer prevention team. Priest discusses the education work of federal agencies and the public on this critical issue.
Recipient of the Outstanding Federal Law Enforcement Employee Award, Sharon MacDermott is Resident Officer in charge of the Office of the Inspector General of the Social Security Administration. MacDermott discusses his work in the fight against financial crime, particularly the Paycheck Protection Program put in place to tackle the difficulties of covid-19.
