4As offers a leadership course for creative directors

PETALING JAYA: The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Malaysia (4A) will offer an online training “OMG! I’m in Charge! ”To its members in a three-part series in June and July.

This is the latest addition to the 4As online training portfolio, made possible by leveraging 4As’ six-year alliance with the Chartered Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) UK, and supported by industry partner Astro..

“OMG! I’m in charge!” will show practitioners in leadership roles ways to navigate the intricacies of managing both the creative team and the creative process over three two-hour sessions.

The course will cover topics such as – Where are you leading your team and why should they follow you; How to determine your leadership style;

Learn that whatever the terms of your contract, you will be judged for skills you were never told you would need; How to set goals and create a game plan; Examine the role of the leader in the project; How to feed ideas with 10 questions that kill; How to practice listening and learn the benefits of being silent; The importance of evaluations.

“This program fills a gap, as existing advertising courses fail to train great thinkers and creative actors on how to lead a team,” said Khairudin Rahim, (pictured) 4As CEO.

“This is a completely new skill set that many practitioners grope and learn through trial and error, sometimes with poor results, forcing new leaders to come back to doing the job themselves, as subordinates continue to miss the mark. “

“This course is made up of years of mentorship distilled into six hours,” Khairudin added.

The online course will be taught by Patrick Collister, an IPA UK approved trainer with previous leadership roles at Ogilvy London, and The Zoo, Google’s creative think tank for Northern Europe.

The course is for 4As members only, with a fee of RM2,000 plus 6% sales and service tax. The registration deadline is June 4.

4As, formed in 1971, is the leading advertising industry body engaged in promoting the value of advertising agencies in the marketing communications industry to advertisers, media, vendors, government and the public. .
